Kickstarter campaign a success!

10 Aug

We at ARC HQ are very pleased to report that not only did we meet our Kickstarter goal, but we also surpassed it! Thanks to everyone who contributed, including these folks that we haven’t recognized on the site yet:

  • Amanda Pileggi
  • Ashlie Corcoran
  • Sarah Baumann
  • Jon Unger Brandt
  • Natalie Bomberry
  • Jane Stewart
  • Megan Hamilton

The folks came in at the 11th hour and helped make this campaign really something amazing.

So why did we do Kickstarter? Well, the money raised helps us pay our company members a living wage, which is really important. Paid artists = fed artistis = happy artists = good art. Simple math, and you all made it possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

OUT AT SEA opens tonight! And, some more awesome people

5 Aug

Well, this is it. OUT AT SEA opens at Summerworks tonight. Gord Bolan, Sam Malkin, John Fitzgeald Jay and Andre Sills hit the Factory Mainspace stage at 5PM. We sincerely hope you’ll be there, or that you’ll have a chance to check us out over the course of the festival.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our donors. There are a few new names for the honor roll this morning for their generous contributions on Kickstarter:

  • Kevin Kimmons
  • Douglas & Elizabeth Stewart
  • Graham Angus
  • Alex
  • David Sanchez
  • Andra Owen

Suffice it to say you guys rock out world. Thank you. And there are still 7 hours to kick in a bit of cash at Kickstarter…every little bit helps!

So here’s to a great company, a great show, and a great opening. Break legs!

ARC Member featured in Now Magazine

ARC Member, awesome actor, and all around good guy Andre Sills is featured in Now Magazine’s Summerworks “Artists to Watch“.

Quoth Jon Kaplan and Glenn Sumi:

After a series of intense, realistic roles in Ruined and Kim’s Convenience, Sills gets a chance to tackle a surreal, absurdist script that’s sure to be larger than life in the hands of director Aleksandar Lukac.

Congrats, Andre!

Support OUT AT SEA on Kickstarter

11 Jul

For our upcoming show, we’re doing something a little different. We’ve teamed up with Kickstarter, a social fundraising tool, to raise some of the cash we need to put on OUT AT SEA at Summerworks. Through small donations, we’re aiming to raise $3,000. But this isn’t your classic charitable giving. You actually get something in return…tickets, shout-outs, even the chance to party with ARC.

But here’s the catch: if we don’t meet our $3,000 goal by August 5, we don’t get any money at all. So please, consider supporting ARC through Kickstarter. Anything helps – $10, $15, whatever works for you. Check out the video we made to support our Kickstarter campaign:

If you’d like to help us out, please go to our Kickstarter page.

ARC presents…Out at Sea

4 Jul

We here at ARC are very excited to announce our latest production: Out at Sea, part of this year’s Summerworks Festival.

It’s a story of the selfish, sharp-witted, and eager. Stranded at sea, three men with no hope of rescue take a surreal journey. With no source of sustenance left, they must decide how to survive. One man must be eaten. But who? Campaigning, elections, and scandal all give way to sacrifices for the greater good. Saucy. Literally.

The play features ARC members Andre Sills, John Fitzgerald Jay, Sam Malkin, and Gordan Bolan. It plays at the Factory Theatre Mainspace on Friday, Aug. 5 (5:00pm), Aug. 7 (2:30pm), Aug. 8 (10:00pm), Aug. 10 (10:00pm), Aug. 12 (5:00pm), and Aug. 14 (7:30pm). Tickets are $15, available at 416 504 7529, artsboxoffice.ca, or at the door.

We’re doing some pretty interesting stuff around this show, so be sure to check this space for updates, videos, photos, and some secret awesomeness.
